The Earth Charter offers a number of fundamental rules of engagement between humankind and our precious planet. These guidelines came about through a decade long series of worldwide consultation with civil society, spiritual leaders, policy makers and other groups: they represent a future we all want.
Highly inspiring and influential people such as Ruud Lubbers, the late Wangari Mathaai and Mikhail Gorbachev were the founding Earth Charter commissioners and have acted as ambassadors of the Charter globally.
Dr. Monk co-founder Ama van Dantzig is part of the Earth Charter Council that sets major goals, policies, and strategies for the initiative. We designed, produced and/or moderated several international gatherings, including the celebrations of the 15th anniversary of the Earth Charter in 2015.
In the Netherlands, Dr. Monk helped to facilitate a network of private sector actors who are keen on applying the principles of the Earth Charter in their business. We created and illustrated a website for the network, helped conceptualize events and communications and helped stimulate a movement of entrepreneurial people who want to do business in a fair, clean and values-oriented way.
